We have now reached March, which marks the beginning of International Women’s Month! This is a time for celebration and appreciation of women, not only for the many beautiful ways they have contributed to society, but also to express gratitude for the essence of their existence! If you are curious about ways to celebrate and show your appreciation, then you have come to the right place. Whether big or small, an act of kindness and appreciation can go a long way. Below are some ideas to help get you started:

Support a Women’s Non-Profit Organization

This could look like volunteering your time, donating, or making a monetary contribution. It could also look like offering connections, sharing the mission of the organization, and/or spotlighting them on social media. Here are some women’s non-profit organizations that you can find right here in the Capital Region:

Write a Thank-You Letter

You can handwrite a letter or put a nice message inside a card letting a significant woman in your life know how much you appreciate them and that you recognize their greatness. You can also send a letter to someone who you may not know but has possibly inspired you in some way. There is also the option of writing an open letter or poem to all women, if you are feeling adventurous!

Shop at a Woman-Owned Business

Support women by shopping at a woman-owned business. This can be through ordering from a woman owned business online, or shopping locally. Check out these lists below of woman-owned businesses in the Capital Region:

Advocate for Women’s Rights

Educate yourself about things regarding women’s rights and when you see that something is wrong speak up! Use your voice and power to advocate for women and strive towards equality. Here is a resource discussing the history of women’s rights to assist in your research:

Please feel free to use these suggestions or come up with some of your own. Hopefully, this has inspired you and helped you generate ideas regarding how you would like to celebrate. While it is wonderful to show how you appreciate women this month, do not let the end of the month be the end of your celebration. It is always the right time to uplift and honor women!
